The Day The Lights Went Out

I had a dream, this is a poem about the dream...

One day, out of the blue, all the lights went out. All at once America went dark. We all wondered what happened, what trouble was about. It was nothing major, the world would be okay. It was just a little trial by God, To see who would stay. We have been bad stewards, that we know to be true.
Things aren't sustainable.
We never thought of option number two.
Thankfully, society was able to handle the stress,
we can rebuild. But God had a bigger problem he wanted to address.
I heard God ask me loud and clear, "Do you see this pretty building? Where are the people I love so dear?"
The "saints" like to sing and raise their hands in a building so bright and pretty. But when the lights go out there is no one in the stands.
It was clear we are lacking true discipleship in our city.
"Would they show up if the only thing they had to hear was music without the frills?
Would the Word still pierce their heart,
would they clap and cheer and say they felt "chills"?"
I stood there watching only a few come in. My heart ached deep within my chest,
until I heard the few sing with absolute conviction.
Without the frills there was something special at play.
Revival, restoration...
preaching went out that was akin to the apostle's day.
Would the people still come if the lights went out?
I know they will,
and it will be the devout.
